How much house can I afford?
Lenders answer this with two ratios: how much of your income goes to housing, and how much goes to all debt combined. Here are three price points — what's comfortable, what's standard, and what's the ceiling.
Your finances
INCOMEBefore tax, household total.
Car loans, student loans, credit card minimums, child support.
The other costs
HOUSINGAnnual, as a percent of the home's value.
Charged while the loan is above 80% of the price. Leave it blank and we use a typical rate for your loan-to-value; enter 0 for a VA or USDA loan, which carry no mortgage insurance.
Enter your gross monthly income to see what you can afford.
All four happen in your browser. Your figures are not sent anywhere — the email opens in your own mail app, already filled in.
